Multiple Output Formats
A report, appraisal, bpo, document, or form, is completed usually to send it to someone else — someone who needs the data. Typically, if being sent electronically, a form-document will either be uploaded to a site or emailed to the recipient.
Some Like One Way
Different needs arise for sending files in particular formats.
For example, one very large mortgage company likes to have their
reports comprised of a PDF file and an XML file wrapped up in
a ZIP file. The PDF file, once received, goes off to the human
counterpart, and the XML file goes off to the computer database
counterpart.
Some Like Another Way
Another very large real estate company has the people in the field create the reports and send the completed .MFS file to a central corporate place. Corporate reviews the report/form for completeness and accuracy prior to sending the final report to the end client. If, upon review, editing changes are needed, then it is an easy matter (having the .MFS file) to make the changes immediately and then generate a final PDF and email it to the client. This procedure avoids having to send the report back to have the (often minor) changes made and resent.
Yet Another Way
Another example is similar to the first one above but an additional PDF file created by other software needs to be attached to the primary form's PDF file. This additional PDF file or files can be attached/merged to the primary MultiForm PDF File, so the result is a single PDF file.
A Variety of Options
In order to meet the wide variety of needs, MultiForm makes available many different output formats.
Any of these formats, or any combination, can be either output to disk for later handling or directly emailed to the desired recipient.
- .MFS format
- .MFX format
- .PDF of MultiForm Form
- .PDF File (Other)
- .XML Format
- .ZIP Format
- .MDC Format
The .MFS format is MultiForm's internal data file. It is an editable (by MultiForm) file, and may, if need be, be sent to others in those instances where the recipient might need to do further editing. It can include photos within itself or not, depending upon the situation.
The .MFX format is a MultiForm viewable form format, much like PDF – only it is MultiForm's format. It does require a viewer, much like PDF files require a viewer. However, most people already have the PDF viewer program installed on their computers, so the PDF format works as well also.
MultiForm can create a PDF image of any of its forms. It creates the image internally, WITHOUT any external drivers. Many other software packages require a printer driver installation and a printing to the PDF printer driver to create a PDF document. MultiForm does not need an external printer driver. All PDF documents are created internally – literally, at the click of 1 button.
In some cases, additional documents may need to be attached to the main MultiForm Form. MultiForm allows as many other PDF files as are necessary to be appended and attached to the main PDF file.
With any form, generating XML data is a breeze. MultiForm can set up its own DTD or can use a specified DTD to generate data in an XML format. XML data makes it a breeze to get the form's data into a database for further processing.
Any or all of the above formats may be compiled and compressed into a single ZIP file. It is easy to thus send multiple files in a single file. Much cleaner and tidier.
An .MDC file is a MultiForm container file similar to a ZIP file in that multiple files are contained in one.
The Example file that would be created above will contain a PDF file and an XML file and will be wrapped into a ZIP file that can be either output to disk, uploaded, or emailed.
