What You See is What you NEED

Look at the portion of a form in the image below. It has a massive grid, consisting of 7, count them, 7 columns (8 counting the description column). This grid is on an 8.5 inch wide x 14 inch form. Barely an inch is available for each of the 8 columns.

For the person reading or reviewing the form, such a grid allows a visual comparison can be quickly made.

However, it is NOT so good for the person filling it out.  WHY?  Look the image below...

WYSIWYN

At the bottom of this grid is the row titled, "Indicated Value".  In order to arrive at a professional indicated value, there must be a professional comparison, which would involve making adjustments for the differences in the properties.

One could pull the "Indicated Value" numbers out of thin air, or take the trouble to construct a grid on a piece of paper, or perhaps set up a spreadsheet, or go to the store and buy some graph paper.

But why not just do it in the software? Wouldn't that be much better and quicker? But if the software being used is inextricably tied to a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) image, perhaps touting how wonderful it is to be a WYSIWYG form, then that flexibility will not be available — so you might as well go on to the store and get some graph paper.

Or use MultiForm. With MultiForm a WYSIWYG image can be seen anytime, But MultiForm is not TIED to a WYSIWYG image of a form. What this means is that MultiForm can add to the form WHATEVER IS NEEDED to make the job easier for YOU.  Yet when it comes to viewing or printing the form, you get only what the form itself has on it, which is the WYSIWYG image.

Giving you WHAT YOU NEED is what we call WYSIWYN, What You See Is What You Need. In this case, what you need is an adjustment grid, as part of the form while you are entering the form. Like below...

WYSIWYN

Here the adjustment grid (math fields are in green), is part of the visual entry form. Yet when you go to print the form, nothing in the adjustment columns will print onto the form, EXCEPT your "Indicated Value".

The best of both worlds. WYSIWYG when you want it. WYSIWYN when and where you need it.

It's the best program there is.  When a company calls for me to do a BPO, and I don't have your software for that form, I call you.  If you don't have the software, I call them back and say, 'Sorry, but I won't be able to take the assignment.”
